Still on the downward path … :chart_with_downwards_trend:

Axiomatic to what? To the data itself? That’s not axiomatic. That’s circular.

Not all pandemics have affected older people as this one has. The Spanish flu of 1918 affected people more in the 20-40 age group.

On the other hand, as you point out, the young and fit may die but the old and sick may not.

How’s France going with all their facemasks, forced vaccinations and vaccine passports ?

Going well yes ?

In the UK there were 9400 people who died of Covid in 2020/2021 by the way.

(1) I understand that to mean that the weekend additions are NOT included in today’s total, in which case there been another “blip” upwards … :chart_with_upwards_trend:

Did anyone watch the news today? a camera crew and reporter went onto a hospital ward. One section that used to have been full of covid patients was empty, but the other part had 6 patients in it and 4 of them were unvaccinated.
it is those people taking up valuable medical time and beds because of their selfishness by not having the anti covid jab

perhaps they were medical staff?

Did you see that news program on the TV?they were not medical staff in the beds

Perhaps they caught the virus from unvaccinated medical staff?

I was going to spend this weekend coming with my son and family but the grandchildren have gone down with covid .

oh yes they must have gone into hospital especially to catch covid from medical staff so they could later on have a hospital bed,Never thought of that

Chances are that some people treating them are not vaccinated either

Rapid drop in UK Covid cases ends

Nick Triggle

Health Correspondent

The rapid drop in detected cases has come to an end. Week on week cases are down by just over 3% now when at one point they were falling by well over 30%.It seems likely we will soon start to see cases tipping back up.

This was to be expected. The Omicron peak at the start of the year was caused by two things – levels of immunity and behaviour. By the end of December the amount of mixing people were doing had dropped to the sort of levels seen in the first lockdown. As schools have returned and people are back at work, that has changed, making it easier for the virus to spread.

It’s not clear exactly what will happen next.

Modellers believe any rise will be relatively short-lived or there could be an extended period where cases remain relatively flat, bobbling around up and down, as happened after restrictions were eased last summer.

What looks certain is that the Omicron wave will have a fairly long tail to it.

100,000 reported cases a day = 3,000,000 reported cases a month - disruption to the UK economy caused by “sick leave” is far from over.
