Well, isn’t that the idea? you vaccinate 95% of the population first then allow the spread to increase but maintain it below the level where the health system is overwhelmed. You rely on the vaccination to reduce the number of serious cases which end up in the ICU.

The number of actual cases however is a bit rubbery because the PCR testing is basically defunct as people do their own Rapid Antigen Testing (if they can get a kit) they are supposed to report a positive test but daily figures include positive tests since 1st Jan, Tests done in the last seven days so what they actually mean is not clear.
