Yesterday had my cataract surgery and it went well. Don’t know what i was worried about.
That’s good to hear Logan! We naturally worry because its an unknown…but I’m glad it went well!
I knew it would go well and without a hitch coz it’s been perfected over many years
I am pleased that you are pleased
Glad all went well, hope your recovery is smooth.
Great to hear! Thanks for updating about it.
Thank you all @butterscotch , @Maver-rik @Mags , @PixieKnuckles and @LongDriver
I can see things I couldn’t before and that is good and bad
I have noticed that when I look in the mirror in the morning, (the only time I look in a mirror, I would really rather not) I look much younger and wrinkle free before I put my glasses on.
Sorry I meant to have kept you updated, I had the second cataract done last week on the 17th. It went well up until a few days ago. I started seeing floaters and I went to have it checked at the opticians just incase it was the surgery. But everything is fine it’s just that I can see them now and nothing to worry about.
Thank you and yes, that’s a lovely beautiful pic.
Excellent! It is amazing what you can see now. I had mine about two years ago. What you don’t realise is just how bad your vision gets worse over a period of years until you appreciate just how good your vision is after the op.
To Logan 1:
I’ve just discovered this thread and confess that I haven’t read all the 68 responses!
I did, however, read the first one and wonder why you were obliged to remain there for 3 hours.
Did you have a local or a general anaesthetic. The latter, of course, would make a big difference because they’d need to keep an eye on you (sorry, no pun intended) for some time afterwards.
I had a local and, of course, didn’t have to stay for long though I can’t remember now for how long.
I hope your vision is much better now and no side effects.
@Besoeker yes it’s amazing afterwards, I can see colours a lot better now.
@JBR in the information paper they say 3 hours but it wasn’t. It’s 40 minutes for the drops to take affect and the procedure only takes a few minutes. it was about a hour and a half or there abouts.
No I didn’t have general anaesthetic it was eye drops. Also after I was told what to do in the 4 weeks and given a booklet, eye drops and a pen to write down the times to use them. Thank you both.
Given what my optician has said , “to save time” he will administer eye drops to look closer at the back of the eyes results of which will be passed to the hospital .
Is this normal procedure you and other people in this thread have experienced ?
Time factor varies?
I keep hearing
20 minutes done and dusted "
Can this be right ?
It all depends on the hospital and opticians. The opp it self only takes about 10mins. It’s all the preparation before and after.
I had to go to the hospital and i had like a eye test and they did look at the back of the eyes as you said, they took my blood pressure as well. That was a few weeks before the procedure.
If you have questions it would be better to speak to your opticians.
I am having my pre op assessment on the 24th…next week, sane place you had yours done Logan
My sister is going for her pre op on the 19th and if all is well her op will be on the 30th. Looks like you will be able to prepare notes on progress after the op.
