British Coronavirus - new virulent strain of coronavirus which has arisen in the south of England

Boulb be that we can club all the vaccines together?

Then they could just hit you with a bucketful and Bob’s your uncle.

:-p

Trouble is Ted, the new vaccine won’t work on the mutated covid virus, so [the vaccine] is obsolete before it’s got off the ground…:102: A bit like microsoft software…:frowning:

All the scientists are saying it will work.

Well the flu vaccine has to be reconfigured each year for the different strain of flu…?

The flu vaccine doesn’t work in the same way as the MRNA ones. The Covid virus hasn’t mutated sufficiently to escape the vaccine.

Nice of the Chinese woman to head up the video.

Are you saying the microsoft tech guys started all this? It wouldn’t surprise me .

Just announced 8 new community transmissions in NSW today, 7 are associated with the Northern Beaches cluster.

One case is a driver who transport three US citizens to Hotel Quarantine not related to the Northern beaches cluser. Genome Sequencing is taking place and will be available this afternoon.

No cases of the British Coronavirus in the community at the moment. The Premier was just asked if she would ban arrivals from the UK and said, “At the moment, No”

The 11am Press conference is still going on, it has become part of my morning viewing :frowning:

Checks of sewage is carried out as routine event Covid has been noted in the Hornsby Heights area

How do you know she is Chinese?

Listening to a report on AM radio program about Aussies trapped because Singapore has banned flights from the UK.

Singapore is one of the few active stopovers from Europe to Australia. Some 36000 Australians are trying to get home but restrictions on the number of arrivals, because of limitations of available hotel quarantine places, have stopped them.

The interview was with a family who were booked on a Singapore Airlines flight from London in February but which has now been cancelled. Singapore airlines is one of the few airlines flying into Australia.

According to the Chief Medical Officer yesterday there are now four cases of the UK Virus in Australia - all in hotel quarantine so far.

Do you mean returning nationals ?

No, I think it was US air crew but I can’t remember exactly, foreign air crew now have to go into hotel quarantine and are kept under police guard.

Previously they went to a hotel of their choice where they were supposed to isolate but it has always been viewed as a weakness in our quarantine system and has been tightened up after a Brazilian Aircrew was fined for being at a night club.

You keep saying the UK strain its not just ours we identified it but its not just here…interestingly if you look at the map of infections it started on the south coast with large clusters around Dover…make of that what you will.

Yep, some people just don’t acknowledge the facts Summer…:009:

Have a brilliant Yorkshire Christmas, and all the best for you and your family for the new year Summer…

Does it really matter? Spanish Flu didn’t originate in Spain (I think it started in the USA) but it will be always known as Spanish Flu because they identified it first. Same situation here.

Thank-you Foxy and the same to you and your family too xx

Yes Bruce it matters especially when other countries put travel bans on us hoping to contain it when it’s in their country anyway…no-one should be travelling right now unless they really have to…not just Brits

Don’t worry we banned everybody entering, even countries that don’t have any coronavirus whether Chinese or British. Very even handed; no one arrives, no one leaves, it’s the only way to contain it.

Mind you I wish these bastards would bugger off home:

Riot police were called to Bronte Beach late on Friday after around 100 people gathered for a Christmas party, breaching current public health orders.

The crowd was believed to be mostly British and Irish nationals.

The new UK variant was first identified in the English county of Kent on September 20.

The UK’s health secretary announced the existence of the variant on December 14.

Australian health authorities have since confirmed four cases of the UK strain have been found in the country as of December 22.

Two were found in New South Wales and two in Victoria.

All cases have been found in recent arrivals in quarantine. There have been no confirmed instances of community transmission.

NSW Health has announced the Avalon cluster is of United States origin and not associated with the UK strain.

Australia is not planning on banning flights from the UK, as Australia’s 14-day hotel quarantine is much stricter than many other countries closing borders to the country.

Another case of the UK Strain turned up in SA yesterday, that is a total of five cases in Australia so far identified.

The are all returning residents from the UK in hotel quarantine.

A cleaner who tested positive to coronavirus after working in a quarantine hotel in Brisbane has been confirmed as having the more contagious UK strain of the virus, the Queensland Government says.

The confirmation comes as aged care facilities have been placed in lockdown across Greater Brisbane, including Metro North, Metro South and West Moreton Hospital and Health Services.

Visits to hospitals and disability accommodation have also been banned.

The woman, aged in her 20s, is the first locally acquired case to be contracted from hotel quarantine in Queensland.

Her positive case has brought the state’s streak of 113 days without community transmission to an end.
