Billionaires (and their enablers) are to blame - for pretty much everything

The rise of social media is imo also playing its part, false information and clickbait headlines get people riled up without any fact checking, the media is also stirring the fire, mostly owned by billionaires to promote their own agendas, we are seeing the rise of fascism indeed, it looks like we will have our own facist government in a few years, we are told to look down never up

Well I think governments don’t control the way capitalism works. It’s the other way round and so politics is based on an illusion.Changing politicians every few years won’t make any difference because they can’t make it work for the majority of us. :grinning:

Would would a pastor think of billionaires? Watch this:

The dodgy aspects of Reform do not stop at Farage’s tax avoidance efforts. Or the clueless councilors banning contact with a newspaper. There is the whole issue of the funding of this party and the vested interests of the people giving reform significant sums. There many fossil fuel investors and supporters giving big money (what’s the Reform stance of renewables, net zero and more drilling?) There are crypto investors donating (what are the Reform plans for deregulating crypto?) There are donations from off-shore tax havens (what is the Reform plan for taxing non-doms?)
The billionaire bank rolling Reform are not doing it to benefit the ordinary folk in the UK.

I read that the shift of wealth over the last 30-40 years can be measured in hundreds of trillions. That is the shift from the bottom 90% to the top 1%.
At the same time millions in the UK are on welfare support because their paid work does not pay enough. In the US the number getting food support is 42 million.
That means the millionaires / billionaires owning the businesses where these people work (working but not earning enough to live on) are happy to underpay their staff as they know the government will provide additional money. That means ordinary tax payers are funding billionaires so that they can underpay and make more profit. That is - tax payers are giving money to make billionaires richer.
Note - even if a billionaire does not directly own a business that underpays, you can be certain that their investment portfolio includes companies that do underpay. The extra profit achieved from underpaying goes to shareholders - the billionaires.

They own everything - including our govts:

Australia has 48 billionaires who hold more wealth than the bottom 40 per cent of the population combined, a new report by Oxfam Australia has found.

It says that with eight new billionaires added to Forbes’s Australian billionaires list since 2020, they are now wealthier than almost 11 million Australians, with more than one third of those — or 3.7 million people — living in poverty according to the latest Poverty in Australia 2025 report by the Australian Council of Social Service and UNSW.

And it is a global trend, Oxfam asserts, with the number of billionaires around the world passing 3,000 for the first time, with a combined wealth of $27.7 trillion. That figure is based on Forbes’s global list of billionaires.

The enrichment of the already obscenely rich continues apace and helps no-one. In 2024 it seems the wealth of the world’s billionaires grew by $2,000 billion. Note that the total money provided in aid globally is about $200 billion. So the already super wealthy, want for nothing could have given 5 times more than is currently provided for disasters, poverty, etc.
Obviously they decided to keep this hike in their wealth to themselves.

And it’s the workers who pay the most tax so they can get it back in benefits together with those who don’t work
