I am so pleased about the Big Ben chimes.
I absolutely love to hear those at midnight each year, and I honestly don’t think I would bother to wait up to see the New Year in without them.
I have always found it an emotional and magical few minutes. Luv it. :bell:

I was brought up in Wallasey on the Wirral, quite near the River Mersey. The sound of New Year to me is the sound of all the boat hooters going off at Midnight.
It brings back memories of my parents leaving me at home at 13 yo when they were invited out.to a New years party
I had secretly bought a packet of Players No6 cigarettes and smoked 7 during that night while drinking some of my parent’s Martini. I felt so grown up that night

Although I can’t hear it in South Yorkshire, I’ll put it through the big amp and speakers, If I’m staying up for new year everybody in the street will have to too…
:control_knobs:
Couple of hundred watts RMS should do it…
:sunglasses:

I can’t hear it from Northants either, but I put the telly on to watch the midnight festivities in Trafalgar Square, and along the Thames - and hear the chimes.

I always to believe it was a good omen to receive a kiss at midnight too, else it would mean a loveless new year was coming…

Covid, and old age, has put pay to that!
