There is a Black mirror episode about precisely this. Probably more than one episode. They have quite a few where people create virtual versions of themselves and then carry on living in a virtual world. If you’re a fan of that show you will know that these things never end well.

Better to cherish the good memories and let the bad parts go naturally. Grieving or tricking your mind into thinking its not really over isn’t healthy. Just my opinion, of course.
Use the real time spent enjoying loved ones while they are with us.

You’re right about that and raised a good point … all this AI and virtual reality stuff can dilute the actual real experience.
Let’s face it so many nostalgic memories are based on real experience …the smells, the wind on your face … the nasty gnat bites.

I blame a lot of violence in the world today on computer games and movies.
Desensitised to things we wouldn’t have even thought about back in the fifties.

Foxy, WW2 was only over for a decade in the fifties. that must have been traumatic.
Not many kids were asked to actually pull the trigger at such an impressionable age Spitty.
And they certainly didn’t sit in their bedrooms day in and day out honing their aggressive skills.
The notion of an artificial, and therefore not perfect, creation of the voice and ‘thoughts’ of someone who has died seems strange to me. Let them go because they are not coming back.
A guy I know locally recently lost his wife to a brain tumour. After the funeral a few of us went round to see him. We had barely got into his house when he picked up the urn of his wife’s ashes and asked - did we want to give his wife a hug? Err, no, ta. All the hugs and love were given when she was alive.

Quite, and the very notion of potentially being able to obtain a “loved one” app on Google play is frankly appalling! I’m not joking, it really might happen!

AI is a dangerous interference for the human race, it’s bad enough that we no longer have full control of our lives but not even leaving our lost loved ones alone? Now that’s really too much!
