A small vacuum cleaner please

I live in a first floor flat and use a Henry vacuum cleaner which is fine for the living room, bedroom, and so on but is awkward to use on the stairs, and is a fiddle to lug around; and I’m not getting any younger

So I’m thinking of keeping the Henry for the main rooms and thorough cleaning, and getting a smaller portable/rechargeable one for the stairs, minor/occasional bits of dust, and my car
I’ve used one by Black & Decker and it was next to useless, so I’m thinking of a more powerful cyclone type, such as Dyson, though I haven’t used one
A quick Search shows that they’re more expensive, but I’m willing to pay that

Any comments or suggestions please?

I have never even been in a flat let alone lived in one. So help me out. I presume a flat is just one floor so where are the stairs? Presumably your paying rent of some sort, and it is down to the landlord to arrange any cleaning that has community access

These are low rise apartments, with only ground & first floors
There are no communal/shared entrances, each flat has its own front door

For ground floor flats their front door opens straight into their hallway, with no stairs
My front door opens straight onto the stairs, and although the housing company is responsible for repairs & maintenance, each tenant is responsible for the cleaning, including the hall & stairs

Have you thought of getting a carpet sweeper? I rarely use my vacuum, just the carpet sweeper, no cords or hoses to get in the way, no power needed, picks up everything including dog hair. Brilliant device, much cheaper than a vacuum cleaner too.

I use the vacuum very rarely .
