170 Arrested in Newcastle Harbour

But they don’t have to get there do they? To them it’s just a bit of fun and either a way to make a few bob or get a free meal. Why don’t they try getting a job like the rest of us.
Lazy annoying little sods…

When I was a courier I did a lot of work for the National Grid delivering transformers to Teeside. You could say “I was taking coils to Newcastle”

Yes they do have to get there. Protests arent effective if nobody gets there.

And no, i dont think it is just for fun nor do i think they are making any money or getting free meals out of it.
Nothing to suggest they dont have jobs either - people can take leave days, work shifts other than business hours etc.

And it certainly isnt lazy. That would be doing nothing, not being an active protestor.

I dont neccesarily agree with what they are protesting about - but making dismissive assumptions isnt fair, regardless of whether I agree with their cause.

Hate to rain on your parade with facts but how did you work that one out?

There’s no such thing as a free meal

Yeah…A good day out punting around the bay and then entertainment and a good meal with like minded folks…It’'ll be a hoot…Oh by the way…Tell Joe public that we are protestors in case the press turns up…That should explain why we are holding up important shipping…

or they are doing it for a cause they believe in

Whether or not you agree with the cause, I’m not sure how that is so hard to understand or why you have to make false assumptions about them.

It’s a silly protest, they owe their cushy pampered lives to fossil fuel and they are probably all vegan too. That’s a very feminine diet because it encourages the production of estrogen and inhibits testosterone that’s why blokes take on a female appearance.
Quote…
(ES-truh-jin) A type of hormone made by the body that helps develop and maintain female sex characteristics and the growth of long bones . Estrogens can also be made in the laboratory. They may be used as a type of birth control and to treat symptoms of menopause, menstrual disorders, osteoporosis, and other conditions.

More assumptions with no basis in fact,.

Nothing to suggest they are all vegans nor is that relevant to the protest

You may think the protest is silly - so therefor you think making false assumtions about participants is ok???

I don’t think the ramblings of a grumpy old bloke 8000 miles away is going to cause them loss of sleep…But they are still a bunch of knobs protesting about something they know nothing about.
A more worthy protest would be to have madman Bill Gates sanctioned. Anyone who covers fruit with a plastic coating so it travels well and last longer. And thinks that by producing a massive cloud in space to shield the sun will prevent global warming. And now adding chemicals to animal feed to reduce the methane in their farts and so preventing climate change…among other stuff…I can’t believe that supposedly intelligent people are going along with his crackpot ideas. But most of all, I can’t understand the billions of normal people who have to live on this planet and eat food produced on it, allow the few rich and powerful people to control things that will be reflected in all of our lives.

well on that we agree - what you think will not lose them any sleep.

and a protest isnt unworthy just because other things are also worth protesting about.

and not sure how you think they know nothing about the issue - that seems another assumption.

You seem to have made many assumptions about them, some clearly incorrect - like the free meals claim.

I dont agree or disagree with their cause- but I don’t create ‘facts’ to suit my narrative when I disagree with people.

Why not? Everybody else does…

No they dont.

I try to be objective and not invent ‘facts’ to suit my narrative. As I’ m sure do most people.
Just because you do that dont paint others with the same brush.

Why not?
Recognising your own bias and not letting that cloud your judgement is always a good thing. Otherwise you are not discussing a real, situation, just your incorrectly assumed one.
Also is hypocriticall and prejudiced if we dont apply the same standards to people/ causes/ organisations we dont like as to those we do like
And makes us look silly if we post a presumptive statement like ‘they just want free meals’ without checking first if that is actually so.

It was a big protest - also an approved and permitted protest - the people arrested went too far into the water, out of the permitted zone, or stayed too long after the permitted time

For balance, it must be added there were many more hundreds of the protestors NOT arrested, it was a legal event involving thousands of people.

You are having a laugh aren’t you…
You talk about me making things up…The whole protest is due to false science, propaganda and conspiracy theories made up by the establishment.

And just for the record…

Does this mean that 2 cups of Soy milk are a female contraceptive? Or is this another of those “margarine is one molecule away from plastic” looney scare campaigns?

be that as it may - I’m not arguing for or against the cause

My point is that we need to not make up our own ‘facts’ or let our opinion about the cause cloud our judgement about the motives or the actions of the participants.
not having a laugh - totally serious about trying to be objective and not let our bias cloud our judgement

this also isnt about vegan diets - start another thread if yo u want t o discuss that.

You’ll not be saying that when you grow tits and have an overwhelming desire to dress up as a woman Bruce…

Call me odd, but sometimes I find blokes dressed up as women more sexy than some women…
